  • Saturday- Minot Trip #4

Our trip is complete – we left Minot around 7:30 this morning and arrived home shortly before 5 p.m.  For six days we worked in several different neighborhoods in Minot doing yard work and/or rebuilding in seven flooded homes and a complete makeover at the free health clinic. We also had two team members that spent the days at First Lutheran preparing our meals and two others that...

  • Friday - Minot Trip #4

Our time here in Minot is complete for this trip. We concentrated on wrapping up as much as possible the work at Misty’s home, at the Saunders home, at the Nelson home, and in the clinic.

Almost all of the sheetrocking has been completed at Misty’s house. A couple of doors have been installed, the bathroom floor has been raised and the kitchen ceiling has been...

  • Thursday - Minot Trip #4

Another day is finished – but our work isn’t. Our ranks are starting to thin as team members head home due to other commitments. Even so, we accomplished much today.

We’ve completed as much of the mudding and sanding that we can in Harvey’s home so are calling that done. All of the mudding was finished but there’s still some sanding to be done. Hopefully,...

  • Wednesday - Minot Trip #4

All of the team members have now arrived in Minot and it was another good day here for all of the teams. We continue to complete many of the tasks at all of the locations. We also started another job today – in the home of Pastor Ken Nelson, senior pastor at First Lutheran. We raked the yard, started installing window trim, moved out many of their belongings in preparation for the work...

Progress was made everywhere we were today – the clinic now has a new wall, new tile on many of the exam room floors, different plumbing, and many gallons of new pain. The Saunders house now has many new light fixtures, receptacles, and switches. Bob and Lindy’s neighbor has a nicer looking yard – although there’s no grass, it now has less weeds, sticks, pine needles...

  • Monday - Minot Trip #4

Today was a continuation of much of the same work we started yesterday. We've completed three of the jobs we originally took on. The garage of Saunders’ next door neighbors has been completed. Len and Steve spent a good share of the day loading, delivering, and unloading sheetrock. Now we know what "processing and unloading" means at the Recovery Warehouse means. They also picked up a...

  • Sunday - Minot Trip #4

We started out the morning by worshiping at First Lutheran, the 127-year old church where we are staying. (We actually are staying in their parish center which is quite a bit newer.) After that, it was off to our job sites.

A good share of the team is working in the free medical clinic that is housed at First Lutheran. They got a good start on the many, many tasks that need to be done...

  • Saturday - Minot Trip #4

24 of us left St. Philip's this morning - right on time. We drove a good share of the way in drizzle or rain, but no snow!

We pulled into First Lutheran ast 4:30 as planned. We were joined by other members of the team so now there are 30 of us ready to start work after church tomorrow.

We plan to do some work in Saunders home, sheetrock their next-door neighbor's garage, and...
